The pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez is hell-bent on garnering more accolades in the light heavyweight division after thrashing the entire super-middleweight division within 11 months and crowned the maiden undisputed title of the super middleweight division in the history of sports.
However, the 31-year-old champion had several opponents banging on his door for the next fight, but he is going to lock horns with Russian pugilist, Dmitry Bivol. Prior to this, the probable clash between the two-time super middleweight David Benavidez and the Mexican star had become a big story but could not land.

Recently, in an interview with the iFL tv, the 25-year-old undefeated pugilist opened up new chapters related to his and Canelo’s fight. According to him, Alvarez turned down a massive deal, which was offered to him by PBC.
The Phoenix boxer said, “It was kind of a shock because I talked to my advisers, and they said for me alone, they were offering him 55 million dollars plus pay-per-view.”
Further, he added, “I feel like it’s funny because everybody talks, ‘Payday, payday,’ but this guy is making more of a payday than anybody.”
However, according to ‘The Red Flag’, $55 million besides pay-per-view was enough, but it depended on the champion, who he wanted to face.
What did David Benavidez say about fighting with Canelo Alvarez?
Ahead of his clash against former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux on May 21, ‘The Red Flag’ seemed disappointed. And it was quite clear in his words.

He said, “To be honest, I’m trying to forget about that fight, I don’t feel like the fight. I was supposed to get it a year ago, a year and a half ago, that’s what they’ve been telling me.”
Further, he added, “I’m just going to forget about that fight right now.”
