Canelo Alvarez continues to follow what his heart tells him to do. Next year, it will be twenty years since he started on his professional journey. To reach the top, among a few others, he primarily relied on two pillars: determination and hard work. These are values he has never been willing to compromise on. Instead, going by what he shared over the Instagram story early this morning, he would rather talk more about them.
It’s news that every boxing fan eagerly looks forward to. What precisely is Canelo Alvarez going to do next? Or rather, who is he going to fight next? Just a hint of an answer should suffice to put many hearts at rest. However, the champion probably seems oblivious to the suspense he has put the world into. For the time being, a glimpse into the standards he had set for himself should inspire many.

Not that Canelo Alvarez spoke exclusively about the values in the Instagram story. It’s just a few words sprinkled across the slide with symbolism for deciphering. Take, for instance, the imagery; the champion’s face is not visible. But what catches everyone’s attention is the printed jacket. The pink apparel with his name and insignia has some catchy messages for everyone. More so, the Mexican icon himself added a few texts of his own.

He probably wanted everyone to go through the entire visual. “Words to live by,” Canelo Alvarez wrote. Then he tagged ‘Do Work‘. So the back of his jacket had a big ‘Trust Training‘ written on the top. Then, just below his name and emblem, came ‘Not Luck‘.
Incidentally, Canelo Alvarez’s story is connected to ’18 Greens’. It is a North County, San Diego-based online store specializing in golf apparel. Helmed by a golf professional who has quite a few PGA victories under his belt, ’18 Greens’ appears to have a golf academy providing lessons as well.

It should be quite understandable, given Alvarez’s craze for golf. Otherwise, as far as boxing is concerned, almost all the fans have only one question on their lips. Will he fight David Benavidez or Terence Crawford? Or is it going to be Jermall Charlo? Perhaps due to the sheer weight difference, the chances of a fight with the unified welterweight champion might appear bleak.
However, ‘The Mexican Monster’ is WBC’s mandatory challenger. His status extends until March. Now that’s the fight every fan wants to see. Especially if it comes up on the Cinco de Mayo feature, then all the better.
