On November 6, Canelo Alvarez will contend with the IBF super-middleweight king, Caleb Plant, for all the super-middleweight titles. The Mexican boxing stalwart has waited for this moment for a long time and now he is just weeks away from being able to fight for his dream.

Alvarez is immersed in preparations for this fight. He is giving hundred percent in his training sessions for the stout Plant. However, Canelo considers ‘Sweethands’ an easy opponent because of the orthodox stance he possesses.

Recently, the p4p king spoke to Brian Custer and revealed why he feels Plant is an easy opponent. “Billy Joe Saunders is southpaw and Caleb Plant is orthodox. So, it’s gonna be, I think, maybe a little easy for me,” he said.

Alvarez drew a slight comparison between Saunders and Plant. He battled ‘Superb’ in May 2021 in a gigantic title unification bout. Saunders, with his lanky physique, had a bit of an advantage and he used the same to stun Canelo with a few jabs in the first round.

But it took no time for Canelo to turn the tables. Right from round 2, he went all out against Saunders. He effectively used his short frame to land some powerful body blows on the Brit.

As the fight progressed, Saul Alvarez targeted Saunders’ head. In round 8, he struck ‘Superb’ with an electrifying uppercut to the eye post which Saunders couldn’t fight again. Hence, Alvarez got the win.

This undisputed title fight is extremely important for both men. However, it’s certainly more important for Alvarez, who wants to go down as one true boxing legend. That said, Alvarez will be keen to stop Plant’s winning run and register his name in the history books.

However, ‘Sweethands’ will not be keen on being a stepping stone in Alvarez’s path to greatness. Instead, he will seek to maintain his undefeated streak and carve his own spot in history.
