After clashing heads with his former promoter Oscar De La Hoya during the press conference, he sat down with a flock of reporters, who probed him with a plethora of questions. One of them quickly asked him about the most amount of money he has spent on training camp to date. Face-to-face with an unusual question, ‘Cinnamon’ was unsure at first!
He said, “I don’t really know. Probably like a half a million.” It’s worth mentioning that Munguia made $800K in his last fight against John Ryder, which is barely $300K more than what Canelo spends on his training. Not to mention, when Canelo fought Ryder, he made somewhere around $30 million for the fight.
Nevertheless, the reporter dug for details to uncover the mystery behind Canelo’s half a million expenses during his training camp. What luxuries did Canelo enjoy? What made him the formidable boxer he is? However, the answer was much more minimal in truth! Canelo responded, “A good house, food, everything.”

He further added, “When we were thinking about going to the altitude we were thinking about Lake Tahoe… So we found this gym and we feel great because it’s a very relaxed place, we have everything we need and my training camp is going really well. I feel my best right now.” However, the question is, will Canelo’s expensive training camp help the champion overcome his younger rival? Fans will have to wait.
Mere hours are left in the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia, and the diversity in their preparations seems to be massive. Will Canelo’s heavy wallet help him retain his belt? Or will Munguia’s partnership with Freddie Roach prove too much for Canelo to overcome?
