Canelo Alvarez is a magnetic boxing prospect. With his countless skill sets and astonishing ring management abilities, the Mexican boxer has struck every boxing fan’s eye. Moreover, a majority of his fights are held in the USA, and he also predominantly stays here. Also, with time he’s turned into a local boy. But why doesn’t he stay much in Mexico?

Recently, in an interaction with Graham Bensinger, Alvarez gave his take on the same. He said, “Well, I have security here because of people who can be greedy, those who steal at stop lights. There’s a lot of insecurity, too much insecurity. This is why I’m not here in Mexico much anymore, because it’s not safe.”

Canelo Alvarez’s brother got kidnapped in 2018

In 2018, the 30-year-old was all set to confront Rocky Fielding. But ahead of that, his brother got kidnapped. Talking about it with Graham Bensinger, he said, “2018, Monday before the fight. I was informed.

“For three days, I negotiated with those assholes so that they would let him go.

“And after I negotiated, I was still thinking, imagine if this had been my daughter, my mother, my father. For me, it would have been even more difficult,” he added.

Despite Alvarez involved in the fight promotions and interviews, he didn’t let anyone know about the same. He believes a majority of the audience feels that fighters’ lives are easy. But that’s not the case.
