Canelo Alvarez surprised the entire boxing world when the news of his deal with PBC came out. What was shocking was that the top pound-for-pound boxer had signed a whopping $100 million deal with the promotions owned by his rival Floyd Mayweathers former manager. As the undisputed super Middleweight champion prepares for his title fight against Jermell Charlo this September 30, at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, he appeared on SHOWTIME Sports’ ‘The Last Stand’. At one point during the interview, the interviewer asked him about his move to PBC. He asked, “Why PBC?” pointing out that Alvarez has been with DAZN, and questioned his choosing another service now. In response, the champion admitted that he had already fought a lot of fights along with the company.

However, it appears that things just fell into place as Alvarez thought it would be the right idea to shift. He stated, “Look, I [have] done a lot of things in this DAZN. I have fought a lot of fighters there and I think its a correct moment to come here and fight in PBC. I think we all sit down with Al Haymon and we talk about it and I’m just, I’m happy to be working with him.” It seems that even after the rivalry, the boxer saw an opportunity in working with PBC and took it. It is expected that he will be fighting with Jermall Charlo next. Though it’s not clear who his third opponent will be, it will undoubtedly have a lot of eyes on it.
