Canelo Alvarez Predicts by Which Round He Will Knockout Undefeated Jaime Munguia

It’s not the fight fans were hoping Canelo Alvarez would give them, but he is offering a spectacular night in store on May 4 in Las Vegas. Not just a spectacular night, in his recent prediction after his Grand Arrival at MGM Grand Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Canelo has promised a knockout win. 

As the Grand Arrivals were coming to a close, a representative from the Primer Boxing Championship questioned both fighters about how they were looking to end the bout. The undefeated Jaime Munguia, alongside his legendary coach Freddie Roach, revealed a knockout would be their goal. However, when Alvarez was asked the same, he went a step further to reveal the round before which he might send Munguia to the canvas. 

Canelo Alvarez becomes a soothsayer 

Speaking to Canelo, the presenter quickly highlighted Munguia and Roach’s knockout claim for the upcoming all-Mexican showdown, asking Canelo about his intentions to end the fight. In response, the undisputed super middleweight champion with a 65% knockout ratio assured his fans the knockout blow would come from his end.

Canelo said, “Winning by a knockout is always wonderful, right? So, I think I will win by knockout before the eighth round.” Hearing this confident and bold statement from Canelo, the crowd present at the venue in Las Vegas erupted with joy, expecting a night full of action. However, it’s worth mentioning that in Canelo’s last ten fights, only two have ended in knockouts, two via referee’s intervention, and the rest via unanimous decision. 

While fans will have to wait and see whether Canelo can deliver on his promise, Jaime Munguia recently defended his opponent from people claiming he is in decline.

Canelo Alvarez is currently 33 years old, and his past performance seems to have convinced some people that his career is in decline. However, Canelo doesn’t agree, he claims to be feeling great and would like to continue what he is doing in the sport. And so does Jaime Munguia, who recently spoke to Fight Hub TV.

Upon being asked about his thoughts on Canelo’s decline, Munguia said, “I wouldn’t agree with what you said certainly about him being in decline. I saw him fight against [Jermell] Charlo; he looked perfectly fine. He’s always had big fights. He’s had big fights in the past, too. So you know, I think that he’s gonna be a quality opponent and I’m ready to face him.” 

Despite what critics say about Canelo Alvarez, his punches do pack some power. However, whether he can knock out Jaime Munguia is highly debatable.
