A fight between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez is nowhere close to happening. However, that hasn’t stopped people from sharing their predictions for the fight. Benavidez’s former rival Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade, who fought ‘The Mexican Monster’ back in November last year and lost the fight via a sixth-round stoppage, has claimed ‘Cinnamon’ doesn’t stand a chance.
Benavidez has been the WBC’s mandatory challenger for Canelo for over a year, yet the sanctioning body has not taken action against Canelo for failing to fight him. So, the undefeated boxer moved on to the light heavyweight division to do what he couldn’t in the super middleweight division, with a highly anticipated fight lined up against David Morrell, which may earn him a shot at the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol.
Regardless, while appearing in an interview with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV recently, ‘Boo Boo’ explained why he understands Canelo is refusing to fight Benavidez.

“I don’t think Canelo’s beating David. I don’t blame him [for not fighting] David,” he said. He recollected his bout against Benavidez, claiming “I’m taller and longer than Canelo… I don’t know if Canelo can [defeat Benavidez.]”
“I was able to push David around a few rounds, do what I had to do, whatever, but that weight and his length, and he knows how to throw like punches and bunches, it’s gonna be a hard task for Canelo,” Andrade told Villegas. It’s worth noting that Canelo Alvarez demanded $200 million to fight Benavidez, and faced severe backlash from fans and experts alike. But it appears he hasn’t changed his mind about it.
Meanwhile, Benavidez has come up with a theory on why the Mexican superstar is refusing to fight him.

David Benavidez reveals Canelo Alvarez is scared of losing
David Benavidez has once again called out Canelo Alvarez, revealing his belief that the Mexican superstar is avoiding a fight with him out of fear of losing. In a recent interview with Boxing Scene, Benavidez explained, “I feel like he knows he can’t beat me.” Despite years of calling for a showdown, Benavidez insists that the financial offers made to Alvarez have been “an insane amount,” yet the fight still hasn’t materialized. The Arizona native believes that Canelo’s reluctance isn’t due to money but rather his lack of confidence.
“It’s because he knows he’s not confident in himself,” Benavidez added. However, he hasn’t given up hope on facing Canelo, saying, “Whenever that fight happens, I’ll be ready to go in there and win that fight.”
