It’s official! Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders will lock horns on May 8 with all the three super middleweight straps (WBC, WBO, WBA) at stake. Alvarez’s sensational win over Avni Yildirim has earned him the title unification fight, and it might be another walk in the park for the Mexican superstar.
However, Billy Joe Saunders is an undefeated elite and has troubled all of his in-ring opponents. Moreover, he knows how to get under the skin of his rivals.
Besides being one of the most skilled super middleweights, ‘Superb’ Saunders is also a skilled trash-talker. So, Alvarez might have to fend off attacks, even before they collide in the ring.

“People talk, but I am mature fighter. I am a very mature fighter, I know how to control myself and all I need to do is get into the ring, win and make history. People say in general you know, words are just fluff,” said Alvarez. (Via a translator)

Speaking with Gareth A Davies, Fury said, “He needs to be active and he will punch Canelo Alvarez all around the ring. Canelo Alvarez’s kryptonite is someone who boxes and moves southpaw, slick, good feet, good hand speed, good power. Billy Joe Saunders does all of that, but he needs to be active.”
Alvarez has been successful in four-weight classes and has vast experience in the sport. He is a year younger than Saunders, but has competed in 28 more fights at the professional level. So, it may not be as simple a task as ‘The Gypsy King’ claimed it to be.
