Canelo Alvarez had a cracking boxing run in 2021 and became the undisputed super-middleweight champion. After three world title wins in 11 months, he said he would take a break till May. However, he has constantly made the news as everyone is speculating about the name of his next opponent.
Earlier, it was reported Canelo would move up to cruiserweight to challenge Ilunga Makabu for his WBC cruiserweight title. After this fight hit a bump, the Canelo vs Jermall Charlo bout picked up steam.
ESPN recently reported that Al Haymon’s PBC extended their one-fight offer to the p4p boxing king to defend his undisputed super-middleweight title against Charlo on May 7.

Meanwhile, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn proposed a two-fight deal to Alvarez. Per this deal, while one contest will be against WBA light heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol on May 7, the other one would be the electrifying and much-awaited trilogy with Gennady Golovkin at 168-pounds.
