Canelo Alvarez is currently days away from the biggest fight of his life. This weekend, he will face the IBF super-middleweight champion, Caleb Plant, for the chance to be an undisputed super-middleweight champion. The contest will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ahead of this highly anticipated 168 lbs showdown, Canelo spoke about a possible move to light-heavyweight. When reporters asked Canelo Alvarez if it would be crazy to suggest a fight for him against Artur Beterbiev in the future, he replied, “No, not crazy. I love the idea. I love challenges.”

Artur Beterbiev is a Russian wrecking ball. Ever since going pro in 2013, the Russian has caused havoc in the light-heavyweight division, demolishing all opponents in his path.

Beterbiev not only has a 100% knockout rate, but he also has a very good chin and eats punches. The unified light-heavyweight champion of the world is a dangerous opponent for everyone.

With his form and stats, it is clear that the Russian is not an easy task for any boxer. Canelo, however, is no stranger to making history in the boxing ring and will welcome the challenge with open arms.

Carl Frampton warns Canelo Alvarez about a fight against Artur Beterbiev

The entire light-heavyweight division fears Beterbiev, but such is the fearlessness of Canelo that he has opened the door to a possible fight with Beterbiev. Upon hearing this, former two-time world champion Carl Frampton warned Canelo Alvarez about a fight against Artur Beterbiev.

Frampton said, “You move up to light-heavyweights and Beterbiev gives him problems, that is a dangerous fight. And if he takes that fight – because it has been mentioned – it’s a dangerous, dangerous fight. But I’d imagine if it does come off, it would probably be a few pounds below light-heavyweight to suit Canelo.”
