The blockbuster Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight is seemingly now on the table. And the verbal jabs from Crawford’s corner have already started to fly! Just the other day, a report from ESPN Knockout journalist Julius Julianis suggested that the potential fight is now close to being finalized.

It also revealed that the potential fight is being eyed for September of this year in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, during The Ring Awards, Canelo Alvarez told Ring Magazine “There’s always a chance there,” when asked about the Crawford fight. “We’ll see, but there’s always a chance there. We’re here to make the best deals, and there’s always the chance.”

This, coupled with the pictures released from the Award ceremony of Canelo and Saudi Boxing Chief Turki Alalshikh posing together, gave fans hope for the fight’s future. Amid all this, a clip of Canelo’s interview with TMZ Sports from September 2023 has surfaced on social media, which prompted Crawford’s sister and coach to take shots at Canelo.

‘Bud’ has been chasing a fight against Canelo for over a year. So, when the reporter from TMZ Sports asked Canelo about fighting Crawford in 2023, the Mexican superstar said, Look, I respect Terence Crawford. He’s very talented but he just [won] 1 big fight. If you see his record, he just beat 1 good fighter. Other than that, he hasn’t beat other good fighters like Spence.”

Latisha Crawford quickly found this clip on X yesterday, and responded, “They all sing the same song😂.” Meanwhile, Coach Red Spikes responded to the interview clip, writing, “Bud gon beat yo a**. Respectfully.” Interestingly, His Excellency tried to make this fight last year during the Crawford vs. Israel Madrimov event.

However, disagreements between the parties led to the talks falling apart. Yet, with the talks seemingly heading in the right direction, the boxing community seems elated about the potential fight. In the meantime, Turki Alalshikh has provided an update on Canelo vs. Crawford, but it’s not what fans may have expected.

The Saudi Royal recently hopped on X to share a clip from a video call with Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. However, instead of addressing all the humdrum about the potential fight, he seems to have sent fans into a world of confusion. Alalshikh joked that the trio had chosen yoga over boxing, saying, “We decided that we don’t do the boxing fight because all three of us hate boxing and we decided to choose Yoga instead.”

The video, which Alalshikh claimed was from a few days ago, showed the three discussing the new Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves game. Alalshikh humorously added, “They accepted my challenge in the game, and we’re all betting on a dinner on the loser.” As for the Crawford-Canelo fight rumors, Alalshikh teased fans further, noting, “Only the three of us know what, when, and where things happen.”

That said, while there’s no official confirmation for the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, fans must be excited to see the pair on a call with Alalshikh. Plus, Crawford’s sister and coach throwing shade at Canelo only means—good news could be on the horizon. What do you think?
