Saul Canelo Alvarez is the ‘undisputed’ Pound-for-Pound king. On November 6, he made history becoming the first-ever undisputed champ at super-middleweight. Now all eyes are on Canelo as he decides what he will do next and who he will fight next. Canelo has already received an open challenge from the IBF Cruiserweight champion.
IBF and Ring Magazine Cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis made the offer on his Instagram account. He wrote, “Doesn’t seem like canelo will find a levelled fight at SMW or LHW. What a machine! Ready to test waters at CW for a proper challenge?”

Who is Mairis Briedis?
Mairis Briedis aka ‘The Latvian Punisher’ is a three-time cruiserweight world champion. He previously held the WBC and WBO titles, becoming the first Latvian to hold a world boxing title. He took on former WBO champion Artur Mann. Briedis outboxed Mann and knocked him down once in the second round and twice in the third round before the referee called a stop to the fight.
Briedis first came into the spotlight when he fought Oleksandr ‘The Cat’ Usyk in 2018. As both fighters went into the fight undefeated, someone had to lose their unbeaten record and their title. Usyk won the closely contested bout via majority decision. However, he claimed this was the toughest fight of his career.
Since you guys loved the Lomachenko clip yesterday here is Oleksandr Usyk jabbing Mairis Briedis, taking a half step back to avoid the counter then launching a lead left and pivoting out to a safe angle. Masterful stuff for a big man! #Boxing pic.twitter.com/bjlnj6mUsP

“These are the most difficult 12 rounds I’ve ever had in my career,” said Usyk in his post-fight interview with ITV Box Office in the U.K. “I will go back to the gym and work on improving my style.”
