A potential mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has been spinning headlines for quite some time. As both men will headline their upcoming PPVs this Saturday, there is going to be a major box office and rating collision. Should both men win, a crossover will be on the minds of every combat fan.

Kamaru Usman is also interested in this fight and expressed the same in an interview.

Unfortunately for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’, Alvarez has shown no special interest in facing him. Ahead of his undisputed title fight against Caleb Plant, when reporters asked him about Usman’s challenge, Alvarez had a pretty straightforward response.

He said, “Payday.”

It is no secret Kamaru Usman will bag a hefty paycheck if he gets inside the ring with Alvarez. The Mexican star is arguably the biggest name in the combat world.

He and Usman don’t fall anywhere close to each other’s potential combat plans for the future. UFC also has a lot to offer to their current welterweight champion.

Hence, Kamaru Usman’s special interest in facing Canelo Alvarez could be for the money, but ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has claimed that it is something that will get him out of bed.

Well, Usman isn’t the first UFC fighter to have envisioned himself facing the P4P king. Jorge Masvidal had also eyed a scrap against Canelo Alvarez in the past, but that didn’t turn out into reality.

Canelo Alvarez keeps on getting challenges

From Kamaru Usman to Jake Paul, several people have wanted to share the ring with the p4p king. Thus, it allows Alvarez to pick and choose what he wants.

That said, he has a lot of challenges left inside the boxing domain and has hinted at a move to 175 to fight Artur Beterbiev. Hence, it seems unlikely he will fight Usman anytime soon.
