What are some of the biggest matchups fans have been daydreaming about? Of course, there’s Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury and Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson. But wait! There’s one that trumps all the rest! What’s that? Well, it’s the dream fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford! While there’s a good chance it will never be more than a dream, Jeff Mayweather has an idea what it could look like.

Alright, after ‘Bud’ Crawford sent Errol Spence Jr. packing, he said on multiple occasions that he would like to end his decorated career by fighting Canelo. The former undisputed champion has even started climbing weight divisions to get this fight. But ‘Cinnamon’ never really gave the thought a second of his time. Yet, right after the Mexican superstar’s latest win over Jaime Munguia, a reporter from Fight Hype couldn’t help but probe Jeff about the fantasy clash!

After collecting Jeff’s thoughts on Canelo’s performance, the reporter went straight in with the fantasy fight. In response, the retired world champion said, “I mean two weight classes… I think he could still have some problems with Crawford.” Even though Jeff was sure Crawford presents a threat, he didn’t disregard Canelo’s capabilities.

“But still, that weight is something to deal with. And you can’t just say that because of Crawford’s skills, he can automatically go up to 168 lbs and beat the guy that’s been doing this for a long time. And also [Canelo has] been one of the best fighters in the world for a long time. So, that’s a big jump,” said Jeff

It’s worth mentioning that Crawford is fighting Israil Madrimov at the 154 pound division or super welterweight to gain a title in a fourth division. In the meantime, Canelo currently rules over the 168 pound division, which means Crawford has another two weight classes on his way to Canelo. It doesn’t make a fight between them impossible, but the question is, can Crawford maintain the same level of skill after gaining so much weight? Crawford’s training partner shares his thoughts.

Many had seen Canelo’s win coming from a mile away! Even though Munguia looked great at the beginning, the fight went as most people predicted it would—no upset this time. So, Shakur Stevenson, who helped Crawford train for the Spence Jr. fight, reacted to Canelo’s win while sharing his verdict on the results of a fantasy fight between Canelo and Crawford.

Turning to X, ‘Sugar’ Stevenson wrote, “Hellavu fighter Canelo is. Still think Bud beats him.” If that wasn’t enough, former world champion and retired boxer Tony Bellew agreed with Stevenson, saying, “He ain’t lying” with a gif. Regardless of who believes what, the sad truth is, it’s one of those fights that has negative chances of ever happening, especially since Canelo is in the later years of his boxing career.

So, that’s that! Jeff Mayweather doesn’t believe Terence Crawford could beat Canelo Alvarez, even though it would be a tough fight. But one can never be sure enough in a sport like boxing, where one punch can cause an upset, and one wrong decision can cost the entire fight. Would you be down to watch Canelo and Crawford fight?
