The Mexican boxing icon Canelo Alvarez is one of the most iconic boxers of his generation. Alvarez boasts an almost perfect record with his only loss coming from the legendary Floyd Mayweather. All in all, the 31-year-old has conquered every division he’s competed in.

Now, Alvarez is set to take on the WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol as his latest challenge on Saturday 7th May 2022.
Canelo Alvarez wants to take on Oleksandr Usyk
The four-division champion has ruled every division from light middleweight to light heavyweight division. However, the Mexican boxer does not want to stop there, as he has his eyes set on the heavyweight division.

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, Canelo Alvarez has told him that he is ready for a new challenge in the face of unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Consequently, Canelo also told Hearn, “I will beat him” if he could make this fight happen at cruiserweight i.e. 200 lbs.

The No. 1 pound for pound fighter wants to extend his legacy. For this reason, he is looking to move further up in weight class and conquer the heavyweight division as well. Even though he mainly fights at the super middleweight division.
What’s next for Canelo?

The Mexican-born fighter will take on the WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol for his title on 7th May 2022. DAZN is the broadcasting partner for the fight. Canelo is coming up after an emphatic victory against the former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant.
However, this isn’t the only fight that Alvarez fans can look forward to. It seems that Canelo has signed a multi-fight deal with DAZN. Hence, it is likely that the four-division champion will keep making headlines throughout the year.
