When the son of a hall of famer decides to continue the family legacy, there is no doubt that he rides on a path to success. Tim Tyszu, son of hall of fame Kostya Tszyu debuted back in 2016 and he has been unstoppable ever since.  ‘The Soul Taker’ remains undefeated with 24 wins under his name. He has also just won the WBO World Super Welterweight title.

But is Tyszu on par with Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford? Who better to answer the question than a champion himself? UFC Champion Alex Volkanovski went on FightHubTV for an interview. Let us see what he had to say.

When Volkanovski was asked if he thought that Tyszu was on the level of champions such as Canelo Alvarez or Terence Crawford, he had an interesting answer. Talking of Tyszu’s fight against Brian Mendoza for the title, the former featherweight champion said, “He had to fight the champ and then he was just willing to just fight other guys, so he’s not waiting around.” Volkanovski spoke about Tyszu’s willingness to fight anyone even if it’s not a title fight and respects it. He was confident that Tyszu was only going to get better and better with time.

Furthermore, Volkanovski said, “I can only imagine. When you got that mentality and mindset, I can imagine what he’s doing in the gym,” talking about the champ’s mentality and work ethic. He went on to say, “If he’s not at that level now, he can definitely be there one day.” Comparing him to Canelo and Crawford, Volkanovski reiterated that he would be there soon if Tyszu was not there yet. While Volkanovski does believe that Tyszu will get there, does Tyszu himself believe he can reach Crawford’s level?

As Tyszu prepares to fight with former unified champion Keith Thurman on March 30, there has been news that a win over Thurman will lead Tyszu to the undisputed welterweight champion, Terence Crawford. Believing that he really can beat Crawford, Tyszu said, “There have been talks between us. And I give Crawford all respect. He’ll fight anyone. And that’s why I see him as such a great challenge. But I also see him as being beatable.” He further mentioned how he could be fighting either Crawford or Spence, both of which would be the biggest fights of his life.
