Tony Jeffries is back with a bang! It’s another celebrity boxing review, and this time it’s none other than the heir apparent to the British throne, Prince William, the Prince of Wales. Though his professional career was cut short, the Beijing Olympics bronze medalist has taken long strides in the field of online boxing tutorials. His social media accounts boast over 2 million subscribers.
Just a few days ago, he reviewed Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth‘s boxing skills. It followed his insights on a 2009 charity boxing match featuring socialite Kim Kardashian. As he goes through the short clips, the former boxer-turned-trainer shares some valuable insights on how the particular celebrity fared with gloves.

“Who would win? Prince William or Harry, and why?” Read Tony Jeffries’ Twitter post. The featured clip showed him observing Prince William’s boxing footage. The clip is actually an old one, when the HRH, The Prince of Wales, visited Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.

Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, visited the ‘Coach Core’, one of the Royal Foundation’s charities, at the Copper Box Arena. The charity strives to empower the new generation of sports-coaching individuals. One of the persons with whom Prince William interacted was Gabrielle Reid.
Standing in an orthodox stance, Britain’s heir apparent threw a jab. That seemingly impressed Jeffries: “Prince William, that’s a lovely jab.” Then further dissecting the techniques, he observed how, following the jab, the Prince of Wales’ left hand promptly moved back to cover his face.

However, in the next sequence, Prince William appeared to make a subtle misstep. Throwing a combination of one-two—a lead jab and a straight right—the Prince Wales, perhaps by oversight, forgot to cover his face with the pulled-back lead hand. Tony Jeffries said, “Oh, then he went apart. He throws out one-two, and the one comes all the way back down to his chest.”
However, Prince William was prompt enough to address the issue and covered his face. He executed his straight right also with precision. Jeffries seemed quite pleased. “Nice, turning and rotating the hip, listening to the instructions well. Prince William can fight!”
Recalling the meeting, Gabriela Reid, who was standing nearby guiding Prince William, later said, “I taught him some basics—one-two, jab. He wasn’t bad. He picked it up quickly. Some defenses as well—some slips, some rolls.”
There are other videos that feature Prince William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, also trying a hand at boxing.

Like Prince William, Tony Jeffries was impressed by the boxing skills of ‘Thor’ actor Chris Hemsworth. Incidentally, ‘The Mighty Mackem’ had previously trained the Australian superstar. So he was well aware of Hemsworth’s athletic abilities. In the lead-up to ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, the actor teamed up with a trainer in the ring. Tony Jeffries’ sharp eyes caught a minor oversight from Hemsworth as well.
