Katie Taylor recently suffered the first loss of her professional career. The undisputed female lightweight champion faced light welterweight kingpin Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, on May 20, 2023. Moreover, Cameron’s WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring female light-welterweight titles were on the line during the fight. However, Taylor could not secure the homecoming victory she had hoped for as Cameron was declared the winner by decision. While undoubtedly disheartened by the loss, Taylor maintained composure and congratulated her opponent for her performance. Additionally, she even revealed that she was looking forward to facing Cameron in a rematch.
During the post-fight interview, Taylor was asked if she had done enough to secure her victory. In response, she said, “I’m not sure [if it was a close fight] I’d have to look back at it. Congratulations to Chantelle and thank you for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to the rematch.”
She further mentioned that she was not surprised by Cameron’s speed or performance during the fight. Taylor said, “I expected everything that came my way. But I just came up short tonight. I look forward to next time facing her.”

Cameron beats her again.. particularly if it’s on neutral territory. Should avoid it like the plague

One user wasted no time in stating that Cameron would beat her again in a rematch.
Cameron is the champion, so why does Taylor have a rematch clause which in effect is just a double challenge for the belts. Seems wrong.
— Alan Ford (@fordy3004) May 20, 2023
Meanwhile, a user named Alan was confused as to why Taylor wished to have a rematch.
Katie Taylor can’t talk about being robbed. She would have AT LEAST three losses if she didn’t rob her opponents in the past. Cameron is a warrior and true champion. Taylor is a manufactured product pushed by Eddie Hearn and she has crumbled on the big stage!
— Carl Froch (Parody) (@OnionRingsFroch) May 20, 2023
Similarly, a parody account of Carl Froch mentioned that Taylor was not robbed of her victory. And that Cameron was a ‘warrior and true champion’.
