Ryan Garcia claimed he had no idea who Rukiya Anpo really was. Yet he is ready for an exhibition fight against the Japanese on December 30? Well, Garcia has his reasons. “I just know he was trying to knockout Manny Pacquiao, it pissed me off, so I’m looking to teach this man a lesson and teach him how to box,” he stated, referring to Pacquiao vs. Anpo—an exhibition fight that took earlier this year. For a lot of fans, it was difficult to watch the Filipino legend being beaten up.

Anpo, former K-1 Super Lightweight Champion, has a record of 17-6 before moving under the Rizin banner where he boasts a record of 1-1-1. ‘The Demolition Man’ recently transitioned from kickboxing into boxing and has impressed many. But not KingRy.

While Garcia is ready to face him, some people want the fight canceled. For instance, commentator and analyst, 2ToneDaSupastar, sat down with Nestor Gibbs and Danny Alvarez on the ‘Tha Boxing Voice’ podcast where the trio talked about the exhibition fight and how it might be troublesome for the Victorville resident.

2ToneDaSupastar said, “Ryan Garcia is my guy, but I want this fight canceled.”

Gibbs questioned, “Is it cause you seen that face off? And that dude looking big as f–k and him putting his hands on Ryan. He shoving Ryan, he throwing paper at Ryan… Ryan over here doing shoulder rolls and he like ‘Oh, wait wait. He just shoved the sh-t out of me.’ That’s a big boy.”

2ToneDaSupastar responded, “Ryan would have handed that upper cut, he [Anpo] would have put to sleep.” Gibbs agreed and stated, “He did flinch. He made him flinch. Ryan could have landed that upper but that dude is big. We got to see what’s his punching resistance like, brother. Just keep that in mind. He looks big.”

Well, the Japanese boxer is significantly larger in comparison to Garcia. While the American pugilist is said to be 5′ 8½″ or 174 cm tall, several sources suggest that Anpo is about six feet tall. And during their first press conference face-off, their height difference was clearly visible as both sides tried to hassle each other.

So one can imagine how he towered over 5′ 5″ Pacquiao in their previous exhibition fight. In fact, the Japanese boxer was Pacquiao’s tallest rival ever.

The fight will take place at 153 pounds over eight two-minute rounds and it seems like the Japanese fighter could have a bit more advantage over Ryan Garcia because of his height. That being said, 2ToneDaSupastar might get his wish fulfilled of the fight getting canceled. A few days ago, Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, threatened to not only cancel the fight but also to sue his boxer.

Oscar De La Hoya is unhappy with Garcia versus Anpo!

On Thursday, De La Hoya uploaded a new reel for his Clap Back Thursday segment to Instagram and targeted Ryan Garcia and Rizin. The former six-division world champion stated, “I’m not sure if you saw the press conference for the upcoming exhibition fight between Ryan Garcia and Rukiya Anpo. It took place in LA on Tuesday, and I was not there. Because Ryan’s team thought they could negotiate this deal behind my back,” stated Golden Boy.

He further explained that the global rights to Garcia’s fight are with him and without him, the fight can’t happen. The 51-year-old added, “When you sign a contract, it means it’s legally binding. This means you must abide by the terms or risk getting sued, which is what we unfortunately have to do if Golden Boy is not included in this fight.”

De La Hoya made it clear that he is not against the fight and “wants Ryan to make money.” However, he wants ‘KingRy’ to honor his contract and include Golden Boy Promotions in the negotiation. With the tension growing between both sides, we will have to wait and watch if they come to any agreement.

This has put this fight at an extreme risk of not happening. However, considering Ryan Garcia’s track record, his return was bound to be as eventful as his time away. What are your views on Ryan Garcia vs Rukiya Anpo’s fight? Let us know your thoughts down below.
