It’s hard to imagine YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul defeating the legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. But, incredibly, it did happen—largely because Tyson was 58 at the time. Now, the plot thickens, as fans are predicting a winner in a showdown between Jake Paul and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. And you won’t believe who people are picking to win!

Before getting into what the people are saying, do you know how the conversations of a fight between this unlikely duo began? Well, if you don’t, you are in for a rollercoaster ride—hold on and buckle up. So, back on November 15th, ‘The Problem Child’ defeated Tyson via a unanimous decision in Texas, right?

After Mike Tyson gassed out after the first round and eventually lost to Paul, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis was absolutely livid. People were not happy about the fight, to begin with—the only reason the fight did well was simply that fans were clinging to the notion that a 58-year-old man could put the fear of god in Paul.

Unfortunately for them, that didn’t happen. Meanwhile, Davis took to social media to air his frustration about the fight, and took it out on ‘El Gallo.’ “To the bozo that shared the ring with Mike, you a whole bozo for this and you didn’t get the job done s***head,” Davis wrote. Davis then turned to Tyson, paying tribute to the former champion.

“You will always be a boxing legend, whether you like it or not,” he wrote. “There will never be another one and I understand you so well. All this s**t that is happening now means nothing.” However, Davis wasn’t done with Paul. In a final message to the 27-year-old, Davis seems to have hinted at a fight.

“I’ll beat the brakes off of him,” Davis wrote. “When I catch him, uppercut, jab, left hook, uppercut then just watch.” Paul was later asked about the fight offer during the post-fight press conference. And guess what he said. “Yeah I mean I’d be down to fight, let’s run it. Is there a height limit in boxing?” Paul said.

Davis went on to criticize Tyson later, but here’s where things ended between Paul and Davis. The conversation was revitalized today on Instagram when Source of Boxing put forth a question to their followers. “Tank Davis vs Jake Paul, ‘Tale of the Tape.’ Who wins this matchup,” they wrote on Instagram while sharing stats for both fighters.

And boy did the fans predict the winner—Jake Paul. But why?

Skills out the window, size takes center stage

Gervonta Davis has been training for the sport since he was seven, fought in amateurs, and came to professional, all while surrounded by greatness. On the other hand, Jake Paul started boxing in the influencer scene three years ago, fought one boxer, lost the fight, fought a bunch of MMA guys, and challenged Mike Tyson, who is 58. One would ask, in what world would Paul defeat Davis?

According to this user, Paul would defeat Davis due to his weight advantage. “Jake Paul wins. Tank is a way better boxer, 100x more experience. But the only issue is that ‘Tank’ is 135. And Paul is 200+ weight and size makes a difference,” the user wrote. While the argument is technically sound, the sheer difference in skills between Davis and Paul may make up the weight issue.

Meanwhile, this user believes the only way Paul could win is by paying Davis to throw the fight. “Here’s the script Jake wins by knockout round 4 and pays tank 100M that’s how they all go😭😭,” the user wrote. However, it’s worth noting that such a fight would never get sanctioned, and more importantly, it’s illegal and can have some serious repercussions for the people involved.

The next user also felt weight would cause Davis’ loss in this fight. “Not about skill, but there’s a weight class for a reason,” the user commented. Paul has previously claimed he would stay at cruiserweight, so let’s say Davis climbs seven weight classes for one big payday, does the result remain the same? Not to mention, Davis actively watches his weight to make weight in the division, it’s not necessary he weighs less than 135 all the time.

Someone else chimed in with their hot take. “Jake Paul will destroy him,” the user wrote. Davis has been caught before in his fights, but he’s never been dropped, even by Ryan Garcia, who is known for his knockout power. While Davis’ height may seem like a disadvantage, if Mike Tyson could defeat so many taller fighters, why couldn’t Davis do the same if he decided to put on the weight?

Another user felt Paul would win, but not without staging the fight. “I think Jake Paul wins, if it’s rigged again 🤣,” the user wrote. There’s a widespread conspiracy that the Paul vs. Tyson fight was rigged, but all parties involved have denied the allegations.

That being said, weight seems to be a major argument for fans who believe Jake Paul will defeat Gervonta Davis in a fight. However, we won’t truly know the outcome until they step into the ring. The real question is, who do you think will win?
