Caleb Plant is one top-graded boxer of the super-middleweight division. He bagged the IBF super-middleweight strap in 2019 and has held it ever since. ‘Sweethands’ has a career to look upon already with his undefeated run in the sport. Unquestionably, he is one of the finest 168-pounders present inside the ring. But did you know about his dreadful struggle before he made it big?
It involved his daughter Alia Plant, who was born on May 7, 2013. Unfortunately, the infant suffered from a brain abnormality and got pestered by seizures, which occurred hundreds of times a few days. Alia Plant even had respiratory problems which coupled with her illness.
His daughter barely lived for 19 months with some serious illness throughout her lifespan. She spent most of her life in and out of the hospital, and Plant couldn’t really enjoy and do what he dreamed of before becoming a father.

While she was in the hospital in her last days, doctors had already warned Plant that his daughter could pass away anytime. One fine day, when ‘Sweethands’ couldn’t see her daughter all wired and ailing in so much pain, he went to her and whispered,
“Are you tired? Because if you are, I’m not going to be disappointed in you. I’m not going to be mad at you or upset with you. I just want you to know if you don’t want to go through this anymore, I support you. I love you and your Dad’s not going to be mad at you.”
On January 29, 2015, doctors gave a final ultimatum to ‘Sweethands’ saying she won’t survive more than a day. Plant then asked them to keep her on support until his friends and family could bid adieu to their little princess. In her last minutes, Plant asked doctors to clean her up from all the tubes and wires attached, and by 10:55 am, they saw her breathe for one last time.
Caleb Plant made a promise to his daughter
While Alia Plant was in her conclusion time, Caleb Plant promised her he’ll be a world champion one day. Two months later he stepped inside the ring and dismantled Daniel Henry with a first-round KO. Piling on with his wins, Plant earned a title shot in 2019 against Jose Uzcategui, wherein he bagged the 168-pound belt with a unanimous decision win.
