Plant is fresh off a knockout victory against Anthony Dirrell on October 15, 2022. On the other hand, Benavidez won the WBC interim super-middleweight title after beating David Lemieux on May 21, 2022.
In November, it was announced that the duo has struck a deal for a 168-pound deal. Moreover, reports also mentioned that the fight will take place in the first quarter of 2023. Additionally, the fight will be presented by Premier Boxing Champions on pay-per-view.

Plant tweeted and mentioned that the fight is set to take place in early March. And that he has received information from the concerned authorities regarding the same.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Benavidez’s father, Jose Benavidez, also spoke about the fight.
He said, “They’re working on it right now. I don’t know where it’s going to be. They were talking about LA, Texas, or Las Vegas. Wherever it is, we’ll be happy to fight anywhere.”
Moreover, Benavidez also revealed that the winner of the fight will face pound-for-pound superstar, Canelo Alvarez, for a WBC showdown.
