The rivalry between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant escalated to a whole new level at the recent press conference. Caleb Plant called the Mexican champ a “motherf****r” and that did not sit well with Canelo, who inferred it as a shot at his own mother.

Alvarez initiated a brawl during the press conference by pushing his opponent. This led to Caleb Plant launching a left hook at him, and within a split second Canelo landed a two-punch combination that even caused a slight cut under Plant’s eye.

Don’t get too personal

Backing his demeanor, Canelo’s team later even emphasized how he is not one to engage in trash talk and especially throw hands at a press conference. Although, the Spanish speaker explained his infuriation as he inferred Plant’s “motherf****r” as a shot at his mother. However, Plant later clarified the alleged misunderstanding, explaining how he would never take shots at his or anyone’s mother.

In a recent Instagram post, Caleb Plant wore a t-shirt that read “undisputed motherf****r“. He even added a video compilation of all those times Canelo himself said the word “motherf****r” in both English and Spanish. He captioned the post, See you motherf*****s NOV6TH.”

With this, he aimed to prove that Canelo is well aware of what it actually means. In the comment section, Plant added, “Y’all really believed this clown?….smh….”

Can Caleb Plant get past Canelo Alvarez?

Stepping into this fight, Caleb Plant is the taller fighter (6 feet 1 inch) with a longer reach (74 inches). In comparison, Canelo Alvarez is 5 feet 8 inches tall with a 70.5 inches arm reach.

Judging by Caleb Plant’s last professional bout against Caleb Truax in January 2021, he will try to capitalize and double down on his natural physical advantages.

On the other hand, Canelo Alvarez is coming off a win over Billy J. Saunders in May. Even in his last fight, the Mexican champ faced a taller opponent with a longer reach.

Against Saunders, he was able to close the distance with skillful combinations and world-class movement. He landed two straight jabs while using his full guard to block shots. These jabs would then allow him to land sharp body shots and overhand rights from inside the pocket.

Over the years, Canelo Alvarez has faced many fighters with similar advantages and approaches. However, this will indubitably be Caleb Plant’s toughest challenge to date. Given the caliber of the two, it is safe to say, the winner of this 12-round fight will definitely go down in the history books.
