Caleb Plant ignites the rumors once again. He is keen to fight middleweight champion Jermall Charlo and settle their long-standing beef inside the ring. But is it really happening this time? While there is no concrete answer to this questions as of now, the American boxer seems ready to play his part and make it happen.
‘Sweethands’ and ‘Hitman’s heated rivalry dates back to the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford fight when Plant slapped Charlo backstage. Since then, there have been sparks and talks, but nothing has materialized to bank on the rivalry. But it seems the 31-year-old boxer still wants the fight, and one might not have to “beg” him to make the fight happen.

Plant, at 22-2, turned to his X handle and responded to a post where a fan expressed that a fight between Plant and Charlo was the “best” fight for both fighters and fans. He seized the opportunity to take a swipe at the WBC middleweight champion and wrote in return, “Never have had to beg me to make a big fight happen.”

The Tennessee native has made himself available for the fight and has been campaigning for it for months now. While he is coming off a defeat against David Benavidez, he is still ready to jump into another big fight. Recently, Plant had even called out the elder of the Charlo twins, as he mentioned that the Charlo fight made “the most sense.”
Plant declared, “I know everybody else wants to see that and that’s a big fight for boxing. So, you know if it’s going to push the culture forward and push boxing forward, and you know something that excites me? Then I want to be a part of it.”
On the other hand, there have also been rumors of Plant fighting Charlo on July 13.

Plant had admitted that his fight with Charlo was close to materializing in November last year. But nothing came out of it. While he was open to the idea of a tune-up fight, the talks died out. Recently, there was a spike in rumors that Plant and Charlo would put an end to their rivalry on July 13. But those also turned out to be a hoax.
The super middleweight fighter’s head coach, Stephen Edward, disclosed, “Caleb Plant is not scheduled to fight Jermall Charlo on July 13th. I’m not sure who said that. But if you didn’t hear it from either fighter, don’t believe it. It’s a great match-up. But as of yet, the fight is not done.” It remains to be seen when both will agree to a fight and if they will agree as well.
