Caleb Plant has not had a great time in recent years. After being knocked down by Canelo Alvarez, he made a brief return, only to end up getting defeated by David Benavidez. Though he only lost via a unanimous decision, it definitely raised questions about his position among the top fighters in the division. But it seems he is ready to make a comeback and once again prove himself.

It seems that out of all the options he has in front of him, Plant has set his eyes on the undisputed middleweight champion Jermall Charlo. Caleb Plant sets his sights on Jermell Charlo

Caleb Plant, the former IBF super middleweight world champion, has expressed his strong desire to face Jermall Charlo in the boxing ring. In an interview on Showtime Sports’ The Last Stand podcast hosted by Brian Custer, he was asked, “David Morrell, Jaime Munguia, John Ryder…Do any of those names appeal to you as an opponent (for early 2024)?” Plant made it clear that Charlo is his primary focus. Plant emphasized, “Right now, my main focus is Jermall Charlo, that is who I want to fight. [He has] been talking about moving up to [super middleweight] for some time…and that’s a fight that needs to happen in boxing.”

Plant’s desire to fight Charlo intensified after a viral incident where he slapped Charlo backstage at the Errol Spence Jr. versus Terence Crawford fight. Plant clarified, “It just came out of nowhere, if it was up to me, we wouldn’t have spoken that day.”

Although Plant has no confirmed return date, he appears eager to secure a bout with Charlo in 2024. This potential matchup is currently one of the most compelling fights in his career.

Jermall Charlo to make a return after 2 years of absence

Jermall Charlo’s return to the boxing world has been eagerly anticipated after a prolonged absence due to personal reasons.
