David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade will square off against each other on November 24. This will be the second title defense for Benavidez, and this fight may act as a step forward in his fight against Canelo Alvarez. He claimed the WBC interim super middleweight title by a third-round TKO against David Lemieux. Benavidez also fought against Alvarez’s former opponent Caleb Plant and defeated him by a unanimous decision. Now, he’ll be facing the former two-division world champion.
Demetrius Andrade has held the WBO title previously till 2022, but he vacated the title as he refused to fight against Janibek Alimkhanuly. Later, he had to fight Zach Parker for the interim super middleweight title, but he also pulled out of that bout. So, now after 14 months of inactivity, he’s planning to go against ‘The Mexican Monster’. And for this fight, Rolly Romero has already voiced his predictions.

David Benavidez has been trying to call out his fellow Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez, for a long time now. As of now, Alvarez has not said anything about the prospect of their bout, so Benavidez is hell-bent on finding ways to get his fight against the undisputed super middleweight champion. He’s even found a way to make his elder brother, Jose Benavidez Jr, take a fight against Jermall Charlo. Mainly because he wanted to trick Alvarez.
So, even this fight against Andrade is a way to get himself closer to his dream matchup. About this upcoming bout, Rolly Romero revealed his opinions in a recent Instagram Live. One of the fans asked him about his thoughts on the live chat. That’s when he said, “I got Benavidez by murder.” Thus, indicating that there’s no chance Andrade can actually win the interim title.
Interestingly, Andrade is looking to defeat Benavidez so that he can challenge Alvarez as well. So, both fighters will be fighting to get a shot at being the undisputed champion of the division. Well, this attitude was commended by the president of Showtime Sports.

The fight will be broadcast by Showtime Sports, all the way from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena. Stephen Espinoza is quite excited about this contest, as he believes that both of these fighters have an incredible work ethic. He pointed out that Benavidez has knocked out six out of his last seven opponents. His opponent Andrade hasn’t faced defeat in the last 15 years.
Moreover, according to BoxingScene.com, Espinoza said, “Everybody knows the elephant in the room. Everybody wants the Canelo fight. But what I respect about these two men in this fight is they’re not waiting. They’re not sitting at home, waiting to get a phone call.” He continued, “They’re going out and making their case, taking tough fights, taking big challenges, taking risks, because that’s what this sport is all about.”
