Back in September, The Madison Square Garden Theater in New York was forced to be on its feet when Bruce Carrington narrowly defeated Sulaiman Segawa in a daring performance. After the fight, Carrington stated, “This is just gonna get me to the next level,” and now, he has the chance to prove that on one of the most electrifying undercards of the year on November 15.
The 13-0 boxer is scheduled to face Dana Coolwell on the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson undercard at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It will be an eight-round match and a chance to carve out his own name, something that he has desired since he was a child.

His father gave him the nickname “Shu Shu” to avoid confusion. It was just a family name in the beginning so that people could differentiate between him and his father Bruce Sr. The name was also given because of the tireless and naughty childhood of Carrington.
As he grew up, rather than dismissing the name, the Brooklyn native made it a part of his identity. He is still announced as “Bruce ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington” whenever he steps into the ring. It is to remind him of his roots and where he comes from.

Carrington was introduced to boxing by his father, who wanted his son to devote his energy to something meaningful. The 13-0 boxer comes from a rough neighborhood in Brownsville, Brooklyn, where growing up can be challenging. But to the 27-year-old’s luck, he was supported by his family which included his father, mother, and three brothers and a sister.
Bruce Sr. did not want his son to have a typical Brooklyn childhood and believed in the transformative power of sports. In the past, Carrington has stated, “Being from Brownsville, I developed a killer instinct,” while talking about his childhood.
But Bruce Carrington takes massive pride in his upbringing and how he overcame everything. For him, being a rising boxer from Mike Tyson’s neighborhood is an important thing. “We got Mike Tyson, Zab Judah, Riddick, Bowe, and Shannon Briggs, to name a few. We have seven world champions to come out of this small neighborhood,” said the 27-year-old boxer while talking to NYFights back in February. And now he fights on Mike Tyson’s undercard. Guess dreams to come true.
