Paul had explained a day earlier on his podcast, BS W/ Jake Paul, that he had breathed something he is allergic to throughout his training and sparring sessions. It turns out that the source of his illness was a black mold that developed at his place of training. Furthermore, it was evident throughout the fight that Paul was occasionally gasping for air. Nevertheless, he won the bout and stated after the fight, “I just didn’t feel very good tonight. I was sick leading up to this. My knuckle is messed up. It was swollen like a big ball.’’

The 27-year-old explained that his knuckle was also broken before the fight. Following that, during the post-fight press conference, his manager Nakisa Bidarian also revealed that Paul was very sick until Wednesday. Bidarian added, “You can listen to him in the face-to-face and people commented online – why does he sound so nasly? He’s been sick for a week. He again caught something right before the fight. But the entire time he was resolute that he wanted to go through with it. But he’s a warrior.”

Though his physical condition was not at its peak, he managed to overcome the BKFC champion and former UFC fighter. But let’s also take a look at Perry’s post-battle situation.

Let’s take a brief look at Perry’s nose injury from a previous battle before learning about his ailments from his fight with Paul. During a UFC fight with Vicente Luque in 2019, ‘Platinum’ seriously damaged his nose due to a flying knee by Luque. Perry immediately began to bleed profusely from his nose. His nose moved to one side of his face at the end of the bout. The injury resulted in Perry facing respiratory issues and he had to be ultimately hospitalized.

‘The Problem Child’ knocked out Perry in the 6th round to secure a win. Perry’s face was covered in blood by the end of the fight. During the post-fight presser, ‘Platinum’ stated, He hit me with the right hook to the body in the beginning, cracked my rib in first 10 seconds.” In addition, UFC legend Demetrious Johnson also tweeted on X, “Something is wrong with Perry leg he is limping during the fight and back to the corner.” But as of right now, nothing about Perry’s leg injury has been made public. So it might not be a really big issue. But who knows?

The former UFC star suffered three knockdowns throughout the battle. Despite the vicious blows on his face and the knockdowns, there have been no serious injuries from this fight as of now. Meanwhile, what did you think about the clash? Who were you rooting for?
