Has Jake Paul molded himself into a better boxer, or has the quality of his opponents been rather weak? That’s the debate that plagues the American star’s boxing career as he continues to surge and make waves in his quest to be a world champion. While he took a detour in Mike Tyson, it has been derailed, and he now faces a former UFC star, Mike Perry. But instead of sending an ominous message to ‘The Problem Child,’ the latter’s latest training video has evoked concerns for him, as the fans hotly debated his future. What made them think so?

Paul, 27, was scheduled to face ‘Iron Mike’ on July 20, but due to an ulcer flare-up, the fight has been shifted to November 15. But instead of waiting, the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter decided to take on ‘Platinum’ Perry on the same date at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. It seems he might have made a smart call, as the former UFC fighter failed to impress in his training clip.

In the clip shared by Boxing Kingdom, the fans can witness that Perry, 32, stood square and unloaded punches after punches. However, what attracted attention was how there was no rotation of the hips, no guard, and how he kept his chin high as he dropped his hands after each blow.

These visuals worried the fans, as it was a recipe set for disaster, and if the BKFC star didn’t fix it, he could meet an unfortunate end in the squared circle. The fans expressed the same when they turned to the comment section.

Fan thinks Perry is doing it deliberately

One fan pointed out the lack of technique in Perry’s art of throwing punches and so called him “Another arm puncher.” Notably, the bare-knuckle fighter has only fought once professionally, and he dropped that fight in 2015.

A user predicted the fight’s outcome, and, referencing Paul’s recent consecutive two first-round KO wins, believed the viewers could witness another easy KO win for Paul. They declared, “Jake about to fold this guy smh another easy KO for Jake.”

However, someone had a different take and theorized that Perry was pulling off a stunt. Why? To gain psychological ground. They said, “He doing this on purpose.”

A comment threw shade on Paul’s beefed-up resume of 9-1 and the quality of boxers he had faced till today. Most of them were past their prime UFC fighters. The comment read, “What did you expect? Paul choosing a risky opponent?”

Another fan took Perry’s side as they banked their faith in the 32-year-old. Moreover, it could be a cardio drill. And so, they were excited about Perry making the switch to boxing after being 5-0 in BKFC. They announced, “YOOOOOOOO!!! Thank God!!! I been waiting on this since platinum first went to BKFC!! Mike by slaughter!”

But someone, making a throwback to Perry’s UFC career and his latest training clip, mentioned that Paul could fight in the UFC. They poked fun and hilariously wrote, “Bro a UFC fighter Jake might as well fight in the UFC.”

Perry, at 5-0 at BKFC and 0-1 in boxing, has been a proven knockout artist inside the ring. While the fight might bolster Paul’s experience, the recent clip will also boost his confidence that he can get it done. But Perry has been a remarkable fighter, and you can’t brush him aside.
