A few days back, the teased contest between Manny Pacquiao and Terence Crawford sent shock waves in the boxing world. This welterweight title fight was targeted for June 5 in Abu Dhabi. But with recent reports, it seems the bout between the two won’t come to fruition.

Recently, Mike Coppinger took it to his official Twitter handle to shed some light on why this fight abruptly fell through.

He wrote, “Sources: The proposed Manny Pacquiao-Terence Crawford welterweight title fight, pegged for June 5, appears all but dead after the funding from Abu Dhabi investors never came through. Crawford, at long last, would have finally landed an elite opponent. Now the wait continues.

The fight fans were in a frenzy to see this duo take up the ring space. Even before getting official, the proposed fight had already garnered vast attention for obvious reasons.

The Filippino Senator Manny Pacquiao didn’t compete for the whole of 2020, and he was rooting for an enigmatic return to the ring. Citing the same, no one better than Terence Crawford could have offered him an exemplary in-ring test.

‘Pacman’ last fought Keith Thurman in July 2019 and emerged victorious in this epic encounter. On the other side, Crawford kept himself pretty active in comparison to Pacquiao and defended his WBO welterweight title four times in the last three years.
