Is Ryan Garcia right in calling Terence Crawford overhyped, or is he just seeking attention?

Ryan Garcia has taken shots at Terence Crawford. He has added another chapter of their rivalry, which is heading towards a tipping point. The American boxer, skilled in throwing verbal jabs and sharp comments, did the same as he took on ‘Bud,’ questioning his boxing credentials and fighting style. Crawford, 36, won the WBA light middleweight title when he went toe-to-toe with Israil Madrimov. However, that contest turned out to be a chess match, with every punch thrown with caution and with calculations. As a result, the fight didn’t have exciting and relentless action. This afforded Garcia, 26, an opportunity to take aim at him. That’s not it. He has also asked Crawford, at 41-0, to meet him in the ring, if he believed the comments were misplaced.

Garcia, at 24-1, sat down in a conversation at the ‘Say Cheese’ podcast and put the Omaha native’s resume to the test. He pointed out the only notable win against Errol Spence Jr., who had a car crash in 2019, which affected his activity later and how he fought in the ring. ‘KingRy’ said, “Terence Crawford really hasn’t beat anybody other than Errol Spence, who went through a car crash… Crawford ain’t like that.” He then labeled the former two-division undisputed champion as “overhyped” and continued,“He’s an overhyped b*m. I’m sorry, somebody had to say it. You’re an overhyped b*m, you f***ing suck bro. You’re not entertaining, you’re boring as f***. Come see me in the ring if you think I’m talking s***.”

This is not the first time the Victorville native has opened fire on Crawford.

After the fight with Madrimov, Garcia pulled him down and explained how he was levels below him or Canelo Alvarez‘s level.

Calling him an athlete with dedication, Garcia mentioned how Crawford didn’t bring money and how he was not a PPV star, unlike himself or Alvarez. He wrote on his X handle, “Crawford you aren’t on canelo level. You are a great dedicated athlete. But you can’t compare to my self or canelo. Crazy little man relax keep robbing everyone while bringing in no money. Please fight me.”

Notably, Crawford vs. Madrimov failed to do a good business and could only rack up a reported 100,000 PPV buys. In addition, there were reports of HE Tuki Alalshikh distributing tickets to fill the arena. Despite his latest win at a new division, Crawford failed to bring in good numbers, which have cast a shadow on his box office credentials. That’s the reason Gracia has painted a target on him. It remains to be seen whether the brewing rivalry will result in a bout inside the ring.
