Boxing is not a sport for the faint of hearts! It’s definitely one of the most brutal sports in the world. Despite that, countless prospects enter the ring with high hopes to build a career decorated with glory. However, does that justify bringing children into the mix? As per this California-based trainer, it’s completely normal. But fans don’t agree!

In a recent pinch, Henry Ramirez, who claims to manage and train professional fighters in Riverside, California, shared a clip on X (formerly Twitter). The clip showed two children with bloodied faces after a sparring session. Here’s what he had to say about the clip!

Boxing trainer claims kids like it; fans furious

In a world where most parents try to keep their kids as far from violence as possible, this guy claimed boxing isn’t for every kid, but the ones involved in it – love it. He wrote, “So I posted this vid of sparring last night at our gym, and you should see some of the messages I received,” wrote Ramirez.

“Lol, boxing isn’t for every kid, but the ones who do it love it,” he continued. It’s worth mentioning that the kids were wearing proper protective gear, including headgear and groin protector. However, these protective measures weren’t enough for people to get on board with what the trainer was promoting through the frightening videos of the kids.

Sparring serves as a constructive exchange aimed at improving skills, which is a lot different from the chaotic intensity of a proper fight. Its sole purpose is to refine abilities without causing the opponent any harm, far from leaving the opponent bruised and bloodied. And the same sentiment was shared by the people who described their discontent with the clip. One user could not hold back their disgust with the trainer, claiming he deserved to know that he was a bad person.

Another user highlighted some important points about sparring, which went against what the trainer was doing in this instance.

Someone else resorted to sarcasm to get their point across, implying sparring and, that too, at such high intensity at such a young age can not be good for a developing brain. It’s worth mentioning that even as full-grown adults, many boxers have lost their careers and lives due to brain damage caused during bouts. The recent case of 23-year-old Kazuki Anaguchi stands as a prime example.

The next user didn’t pull their punches, getting right to the point, and refused to accept that it was sparring. The user assertively labeled it child abuse.

Introducing the sport to the kids isn’t something new or game-changing. People have been doing it for a long time. However, the difference is in the approach! Children need to be eased into the sport, not thrown in the ring to fend for themselves. What do you think about the clip? Do you agree with its contents?
