Gervonta Davis announced in the near past that he would be facing former WBA super featherweight champion, Hector Luis Garcia. The fight is going to take place on January 7th, at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. Soon after Davis’ announcement, even Ryan Garcia made it public that he will also square off inside the ring before his much-anticipated fight against Davis. Fans are buzzing over Garcia’s recent announcement of his opponent for his upcoming match.

Reportedly, Michael Benson revealed on Twitter, “Ryan Garcia vs Mercito Gesta is reportedly close to done for Jan 21st/28th, according to multiple reports. Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia is already set for Jan 7th. If Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia win, they have a done deal to meet in a fight targeted for April.”

Boxing fans have been eagerly anticipating a clash between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia. They are expected to lock horns in 2023. However, now both will face different opponents before finally meeting each other in the ring.

‘KingRy’ will face Mercito Gesta between January 21 to January 28. When the latter was competing in his early years of boxing, it was anticipated that he would become a well-known name in the sport. However, the southpaw afterward displayed no such abilities to dazzle the crowd. As predicted by the fans, Garcia would comfortably defeat the Filipino fighter. Garcia will compete against Mercito at 140 pounds, most likely in Austin. On the other hand, Tank Davis, who faces a tough opponent in January, may use Twitter to make fun of ‘Flash’ for facing a 35-year-old fighter.

Gervonta Davis accuses Ryan Garcia of using performance-enhancing drugs

Davis recently took to Twitter claiming that he feels Ryan Garcia is using something to look big. He wrote a series of Tweets insulting Garcia for ‘cheating’. But he later deleted the Tweets. However, Garcia quickly took the opportunity to slam Davis.

Garcia mentioned in a Tweet that he doesn’t even take supplements. Following that, he went on to say in another Tweet, “Also they never asked to do an early vada testing. I’d be willing to do whatever testing someone wants to do. I already accepted everything you wanted. Why wouldn’t I accept that??”
