While Conor Benn remains a crucial fight for Chris Eubank Jr., his team has begun exploring other options. One among them remains, Yorkshire-based, welterweight, Kell Brook. What is the nature of this potential fight? Junior Eubank’s promoter has some key updates.

After redeeming himself from the loss Liam Smith gave him, Eubank Jr. has a good number of opponents in his mix. However, to contest with any of them, a vital consideration is the choice of venue. Keeping this premise in mind, Eubank’s promoter, Kalle Sauerland, has revealed where a Kell Brook fight could happen for his fighter.

In a frank conversation with TalkSport, boxing promoter, Sauerland noted how Kell Brook as an opponent for Eubank Jr. has picked momentum. His comments come in the wake of fans seeking an international event for his 34-year-old middleweight fighter. While Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin appear as relevant but distant options in that regard, he, however, remains a fan of an all-British affair between Eubank and ‘Special K’.

The German-origin promoter notes, “We’ve had a good chat last week. There’s lots of options out there. The same ones floating about as before, Kell Brook is being discussed a lot at the moment…” Meanwhile, Kazakh fighter, Janibek Alimkhanuly (15-0) also remains a viable name. To what extent do each of these fighters stand in consideration?

“I think the Kell Brook fight is a fantastic fight for the UK, but internationally he’s recognised by a lot of people as the number one middleweight right now so Janibek is the obvious fight but the dollars have to add up,” he explained.

Brook, 40-3, last fought Amir Khan in 2022, winning that bout via a 6th-round technical knockout. ‘Qazak Style’, the unified middleweight champ, on the other hand, comes fresh from a 6th-round TKO victory over Vincenzo Gualtieri that happened in October, last year.

Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn back on cards

To TalkSport, Kalle Sauerland explained the possibility of the fight happening soon. He noted, “I do. I think you’ll see it sooner rather than later. It feels like it’s been talked about for 20 years.” When could it happen? He answered: “This year I would guess, but that’s just a guess.”

The rivals were meant to fight back in 2022, however, Benn tested positive for a banned substance, resulting in the collapse of that clash. While a hearing in his drug fiasco is scheduled for this week, it remains to be seen if his charges will be dropped by the UKAD.
