In boxing, winning is of utmost importance. No matter what is happening outside the ring, fans would only care about you if you deliver inside the ring. While a win makes the boxer popular, a legit boxing streak makes them immortal. There have been some unbelievable winning streaks that have shocked the world. The likes of Jimmy Wilde (93 wins), Julio Cesar Chavez (89 wins), and Larry Holmes (48 wins) are some of the biggest boxing streaks the world has ever seen.
But losing a match is inevitable in boxing. In this sport, few boxers like Floyd Mayweather (50 wins) Rocky Marciano (49 wins), Joe Calzaghe (46 wins), and Andre Ward (32 wins) were able to deny the inevitable and retire while remaining undefeated. After all, it takes only 1 match to break a lifelong streak. Considering that, there are certain active boxers whose win streak is in real danger of breaking in 2025. Let’s take a look.

Artur Beterbiev
After breaking Artur Beterbiev‘s 100% knockout streak, Dmitry Bivol will have the chance to break his rival’s winning streak as well. The duo is set to face each other in Riyadh on February 22, 2025, “The Last Crescendo” supercard. It will be a rematch of their 12 October 2024 fight where Beterbiev edged past Bivol in a closely contested bout.

Considering how close the first fight was as Artur Beterbiev won via a majority decision of 115-113,114-114, and 116-112, Dmitry Bivol has a real chance to end Beterbiev’s streak. After all, it was Bivol’s first career loss in 24 matches and he would like to return that favor and break Beterbiev’s 21-match undefeated streak.
Vergil Ortiz
On the same “The Last Crescendo” Riyadh supercard, another undefeated streak will be on the line as Vergil Ortiz Jr will face former WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov. In 2024, Ortiz made a successful comeback in the ring after a year-long sabbatical and won three fights on the trot, taking his undefeated streak to 22 while winning the WBC interim light middleweight title in the process.

However, he will have a real litmus test when he will defend his title against Madrimov. Coincidentally, the Khiva native also lost his 11-match undefeated streak against Terence Crawford last year and is itching to get back in form. Considering how much Ortiz struggled in his title fight against Serhii Bohachuk, there is a real chance that Madrimov can land a major blow to Ortiz’s legacy.
Terence Crawford
It looks like that after years of struggle and dreaming, Terence Crawford‘s dream of facing Canelo Alvarez will finally come true. But it can also result in him losing his sensational 41 matches undefeated streak, which not many boxers can boast about. But, it does not look like ‘Bud’ cares about that as he wants the fight desperately before making an ultimate decision on his career.

While the fight is not confirmed, the internet is blown away by several reports of Alvarez considering Crawford for a 2025 Cinco De Mayo fight. The fans are advised to take this news with a pinch of salt, but Canelo’s changed attitude has given them hope. It will be a huge ask as Crawford might have to match Canelo at 168, in his fifth weight division. Furthermore, only two boxers, Dmitry Bivol, and Floyd Mayweather, have managed to come out undefeated after facing Canelo, putting Crawford’s streak at a huge risk.
Shakur Stevenson
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has left no stone unturned in making the February 22, 2025 card one of the best. After Artur Beterbiev and Vergil Ortiz, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson will also defend his title and 22-match-long undefeated streak in an electric fight against rising star Floyd Schofield Jr. Ironically, even Schofield Jr. has not faced a loss in his career with 18 straight victories.
While the fans see the Newark native as a clear winner, legends like Oscar De La Hoya have different ideas. The Golden Boy considers the 22-year-old as a legitimate threat to Stevenson because of his aggressive style. Furthermore, ‘Sugar’ is also aiming for a fight against Gervonta Davis shortly in a winner-take match. Bearing in mind how fans have been wanting to see Stevenson in some challenging fights, 2025 is shaping up to be a stellar year for him. However, it will also put his undefeated streak and his legacy in jeopardy, a challenge that he needs to welcome with open arms.

David Benavidez
The David Benavidez vs. David Morell fight on February 1, 2025, will kick off a year of spectacular action. The 175 lbs bout will headline a PBC card and is being termed as a dark horse in the early fight-of-the-year contenders. Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) recently switched to light heavyweight after being denied continuous opportunities to challenge Canelo Alvarez. He captured the interim title right after the switch, as Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) followed the same career trajectory.

A win here will put either of them in a prime position to challenge the winner of Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s rematch. The animosity between both fighters has been evident in the build-up and we can expect a banger of a match. While fans are considering Benavidez as the favorite, he looked shaky in his 175 fight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Morrell can take advantage of that slight delay in his movements due to a heavier weight class and put an end to his undefeated streak. However, when it comes to David Benavidez, it is easier said than done.
Who do you think is more likely to finally lose their undefeated streaks in 2025? Let us know your thoughts down below.
