Barry Hearn started Matchroom Sport all the way back in 1982, and currently, Eddie is the chairman of the enterprise with a turnover of £280.8m for the financial year 2022-23. In a statement released yesterday, Eddie Hearn said, “This is a game changer. For the first time, we have provided access [to] all areas to a film crew to give fans an unprecedented glimpse at what goes on behind the scenes to power the Matchroom machine.”
Interestingly, Matchroom Sport has also been sponsoring Brentwood Town FC since 2023, and 76-year-old Barry holds a small share in the club. Not to mention, Matchroom also houses some of the biggest names in boxing, snooker, darts, nine-ball, fishing and more. And all of these sports will get equal spotlight in the documentary.
