2024 saw one of the biggest feuds in American hip-hop history. Hip-hop artists Kendrick Lamar and Drake dished out nine diss tracks in total this year directed at each other. Who prevailed? Well, that’s for astute hip-hop critics or fans to decide. But, what can be said is that it was a masterclass on double entendres and allegation-riddled storytelling. What started with who had more clout in the hip-hop scene, took a deeply personal turn as accusations of pedophilia and domestic violence were hurled at each other.
There is no way that the two artists can mend their relationship, at least for a while now. Unless, of course, they decide to settle things once and for all in the boxing ring. Recently, in an interview with sports analyst and former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe on his podcast Club Shay Shay, Olympic gold medalist Oscar De La Hoya was asked who among the two hip-hop artists would emerge victorious in a boxing match. The six-division champion seemed clueless at first, inquiring, “I don’t know if both guys, uh, have they trained? Have they fought?”
Then, De La Hoya asked a crucial question to make his pick for the fight—“Who is bigger?” Taking a brief pause, Shannon replied, “I think Drake is bigger.” The six-division champion then proceeded to give Drake the “advantage” if he ever was to share the ring with Kendrick.

Being bigger plays a huge advantage in combat sports. That is unless the smaller opponent is more skilled, technically. Since neither Kendrick Lamar nor Drake have fought inside the ring other than some casual sparring, chances are like Oscar De La Hoya said, Drake has the bigger guy advantage.
Meanwhile, Golden Boy Promotions’ biggest star Ryan Garcia, not too long ago, made his pick between the two artists as they went at each other’s throats with their rap verses.
‘Not like us’—the game changer for Kendrick Lamar!
“Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor” — this line was probably pivotal in shifting the tide in Kendrick’s favor, at least according to Ryan Garcia. The iconic line from Kendrick’s diss track “Not Like Us” was picked up on by ‘KingRy’, who declared that Kendrick won the feud.

‘KingRy’ has been a vociferous and ardent campaigner for child rights, and often speaks passionately about protecting children from predators on social media. For now, Drake and Kendrick have decided to call it a truce. Meanwhile, “Not Like Us” has hit every club and street corner in America, and there are countless videos of people dancing to the catchy tune.
