Boxing, a timeless sport that has endured through the centuries, has gifted us with a plethora of legendary athletes whose feats continue to captivate and inspire us to this day.  One such athlete is Lennox Lewis, a former heavyweight champion whose domination of the boxing scene during the 1990s and early 2000s is etched in history. His reign, marked by his undisputed championship status, is a remarkable feat that many contemporary boxers aspire to achieve.

However, even after all these years, Lennox Lewis continues to be a topic of conversation, as was made evident by a recent Twitter storm that engulfed the internet. The cause of this controversy was a fan’s comment about Lewis’s undisputed championship status, which quickly escalated into a heated exchange between the boxing icon and his critics.

Boxing legend Lennox Lewis shut down a fan on Twitter after the fan attempted to belittle his undisputed championship feat. The fan wrote, “Fury isn’t hungry. No need to drag Usyk’s name through the mud. Plus, you were undisputed with 3 belts in a 3-belt era champ. If all it took today to become undisputed was 3-belts like it was in your day, then AJ and Usyk would already be undisputed. Just my two pennies worth.”

To this, Lennox Lewis replied, “I would say it doesn’t matter how many belts because becoming undisputed in my era was much harder because u had to come see me.” Lewis, who is a three-time world heavyweight champion, a two-time lineal champion, and the last heavyweight to hold the undisputed championship, clearly did not take kindly to the fan’s comments.

The Twitter exchange between Lewis and the fan quickly caught the attention of the boxing world, with fans and experts taking to social media to weigh in on the matter. The fan’s comments appeared to suggest that Lewis’s undisputed championship feat was not as impressive as it would be today, given that there are more belts and weight classes in modern boxing.

However, Lewis’s response pointed out that in his era, becoming undisputed was much harder because he was the man to beat. Lewis was known for his dominance in the ring and faced off against some of the best heavyweights of his time, including Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Vitali Klitschko.
