It is not often seen that a boxer is honored with the championship belt without participating in the title fight. Jake Paul, the YouTuber turned boxing phenomenon, who hardly faced any established boxer, has earned this milestone. However, when this happened, Jake was not satisfied and expressed his feelings, saying, “I feel like I have to actually fight for this”. To that, veteran boxer Bernard Hopkins came forward and replied Jake back.

The oldest governing body WBA, which is celebrating the completion of its 100 years, crowned the Ohio native with a belt on its Centennial Convention. The WBA board of directors invited ‘The Problem Child’ on stage in the attendance of managers, promoters, and champions in order to honor his contribution to the sport.
They called the boxing legend Bernard Hopkins to complete the gesture of crowing belt. While presenting the belt to Paul, the former two-weight division champ challenged the latter.
What did Bernard Hopkins say to Jake Paul?
First, the WBA Convention host admired Paul and gave the reason for crowning him with the championship belt. He said, “You are changing the boxing business. You are changing people to move up. So we want to give you this as a token of motivation, and discipline in order to work hard.”

The 25-year-old, amazed by this present said, “I’m honored here. This means a lot. I feel like I haven’t earned it though. I feel like I have to actually fight for this. I don’t know like…”
Interrupting Paul, the 57-year-old said, “If you feel I can accommodate you very well.”This created a buzz in the atmosphere.
Paul, who is known for his vocal skills, remained silent. He did not say a word to Hopkins’ challenge. He just smiled and continued, “Thank you, I actually feel you own this till actually I fight for the WBA championship. I don’t know. I’m hanging up this isn’t mine yet. I will use this as motivation.”

Is Paul vs Hopkins possible?
Why not? Paul is coming out with an amazing win over the 47-year-old. He dropped the UFC legend, Anderson Silva, and surpassed the latter on the scorecard in order to clinch the victory.
He offered a fight proposal to the 57-year-old Mike Tyson earlier. So if Hopkins is really serious about accommodating Paul, the latter can make it happen.
