A year of waiting has boiled down to this. Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III, the grandson of former New York crime boss John Gotti, are ready to exchange blows and finally settle what they started last year. The two will try to put on a show and ensure that no one comes in their way, unlike last time when the referee, Kenny Bayless, stopped the fight in round six for consistent holding. Therefore, it will be an enticing eight-round affair with bad blood and their past rivalry might have enough selling points to make the event a success.
Mayweather, 47, and Gotti III, 31, will try to put on a show for the fans, especially the latter, who has specified his intent to go for the kill and improve from the last time when he was banned for six months for continuing to fight despite referee calling off the match. Meanwhile, ‘Pretty Boy’ can take us on a trip down memory lane with this fight, as he tries to showcase his much-coveted skills.
Notably, after Gotti III served his ban, the fight was scheduled to take place in February on Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas. But it was postponed later to take place in late summer. EssentiallySports has every fan covered, who wants to know all about the event’s details.

Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti: Date, Time and Venue
Mayweather, at 50-0, will take on Gotti III, at 2-0, tonight at the iconic Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City. The 22,300-seater indoor arena has hosted multiple boxing, lucha libre, and UFC events. But it was a boxing event featuring Juan Manuel Márquez and Sergey Fedchenko that attracted the largest crowd to date. It remains to be seen whether ‘The Best Ever’ can surpass that.
The American fans have to tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET, which marks the time when the main card will get running. The walkouts for the main event could be around 12:30 am, depending on how long the fights on the undercard go. For the UK fans, they might have to stay awake late in the night as the event starts at 12:00 am BST. But if they are only interested in the main event, they can directly catch it live around 5:00 am BST. Then comes the question of the PPV price. How much does a fan have to pay?
How much do you have to shell out to watch it live?

Have an interesting take?
The fight will be streaming live on DAZN and the fans have to take out $49.99 of their pockets. If someone has not subscribed to DAZN, the monthly subscription will cost $19.99 or $224.99 for the annual bundle. The British fans have to pay £19.99 to watch the same. PPV.com also provides the fight at similar costs. If a fan wants to catch the action up close and live the exhilarating fight, then tickets for the fight start at $76 via StubHub and go as high as $23,280. But makes the fight so captivating?
Why should you watch it?
The fight is more of a fight of the legacy. Since his comeback in 2017, after initially retiring in 2015, Mayweather has been competing in several exhibition bouts. The fight against Gotti III can add one more page to his storied career that has 27 wins by takedown. The fact is, Mayweather has the obligation to win the fight and win it with dominance. Even if he wins, if the bout is close, talks about his stepping away from the rings will get more air. This very factor is where Gotti III can score.
If Gotti III wins the bout, which will indeed be shocking, apart from establishing his flag, he can also come out of the shadow of her notorious family background and earn a name for himself on his own. However, odds are not speaking in his favor.
Understandably, Mayweather is a heavy favorite to win. The oddsmakers have him winning convincingly at 1/3 odds. During their June fight Mayweather was at -3000 odds, while Gotti III was barely given a puncher’s chance at +850 odds as the underdog. The scenario has not changed this time around. Gotti is still considered the underdog at 3/1. Apart from this much-anticipated battle, if someone is weighing their options, they can always have a glance at the undercard and then make the call.
Other fights on the card: captivating action
Victor Ortiz vs. Rodrigo Damian Coria (Exhibition)
Ortiz, 37, makes his return to the boxing ring after a two-year layoff and fights 25-year-old Coria. It’s a typical puncher vs. technician clash, and it will be amusing to witness whether Ortiz still has that devastating power that made him a world champion. For Coria, it’s his biggest fight to garner attention.
Alan David Picasso vs. Azat Hovhannisyan (super bantamweight)
It’s a fight that promises fireworks as two fighters with fan-friendly styles, Picasso, 24, and Hovhannisyan, 34, clash for a top stop at the 122-pound division. While a win for Picasso will mean he will inch closer to a title shot, a win for Hovhannisyan will keep his last hurrah for a title push alive.
Curmel Moton vs. Victor Vazquez (Lightweight)
Moton, 18, is on a course to achieve the champion’s title, and he goes through the ropes for the third time this year, as he faces another experienced and older opponent in 28-year-old Vazquez. It will only be his fifth professional fight, but it seems he has it under control and might produce another knockout win.
