It’s showtime! The day after tomorrow, at Oceanside, California’s Frontwave Arena, Gabriel Fundora will defend her undisputed title against Marilyn Badillo Amaya. Five months ago, Sebastian Fundora‘s sister grabbed headlines when she defeated Gabriela Celeste Alaniz and became an undisputed champion. Subsequently, the flyweight champion was named Ring Magazine’s 2024 Female Boxer of the Year.’

Fundora and Badillo will headline a Golden Boy-DAZN card that will feature, among others, a fight between former light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Anthony Hollaway. The undercard also has light middleweight’s top contender Charles Conwell taking on Jorge Garcia Perez. Badillo, an unbeaten WBC international flyweight title holder, will be stepping out of her homeland, Mexico, for the first time. Gabriela Fundora fight purse

Come May 15, and it will be four years since 23-year-old Fundora turned professional. Her first breakthrough came back in 2018 when she secured the vacant WBC Latino flyweight title. The vacant WBC Youth flyweight title followed next year. A few months after the feat, on October 21, 2023, Gabriela Fundora became a world titleholder. Before she turned her eyes on the remaining three belts, Fundora defended her IBF championship successfully on two occasions.

According to Sporty Salaries, for the Badillo fight, Fundora ‘s fight purse could be approximately $350,000. As the reigning champion, she has a 70% share in the PPV revenue. So based on the buyouts, her overall take-home may increase up to $1.5 million.

Back in 2022 for the fight against Lucia Hernandez Nunez, Gabriela Fundora received $10,000. So it’s worth appreciating how in such a short span of time she climbed the ladder in the boxing hierarchy that witnessed a simultaneous progression in her fight purse as well. In 2023, her overall fight purse nearly touched six figures. Last year, she stepped into the ring three times. So, based on her fight purse, it appears her annual earnings were well over half a million dollars.

Compared to Gabriela Fundora, Marilyn Badillo is a ring veteran. She made her professional debut back in 2017 and has thus far participated in 20 professional bouts. It appears for the Oceanside title fight, Badillo may receive up to $125,000. Adding in her 30% share in the PPV buyouts, her earnings from the fight may swell to $400,000.

Clearly it is the highest payday for Marilyn Badillo. In 2002, the Mayela Perez fight fetched her $4,000. She received a similar amount for fighting Nora Cordoza. Things finally improved in 2024.
