With boxing fans already buzzing with excitement for the potential Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight, it looks like the wait is almost over. The anticipation has grown exponentially ever since Elie Seckbach confirmed the possibility of their fight around New Year’s. Reports suggest that the fight might take place in September 2025 in Las Vegas. All that now remains, is signing across the dotted line.
Ever since the reports emerged, predictions and speculations have poured in from all corners of the boxing world over who would emerge victorious. Most feel Canelo’s size and experience at 168 lbs will prove too big a hurdle for Terence Crawford to overcome. One of the sport’s most influential online commentators, ShowBizz The Adult, also thought along a similar line. However, it seems the winds have now changed as ShowBizz has now had a bold change of opinion. What did he say?

Just hours ago, ShowBizz shared a new clip where he altered his earlier position. The caption on his post read: “I Changed My Mind, Crawford Has a Chance to beat Canelo #terencecrawford #caneloalvarez #floydmayweather #boxing. Will Crawford be able to implement that game plan?” Meanwhile, the words on the clip read—“I was wrong. Crawford can beat Canelo Alvarez.” What forced such a dramatic change in opinion?
In a detailed video explanation, ShowBizz laid out his reasoning for this new take. “I know how Bud Crawford beats Canelo Alvarez,” ShowBizz began. He continued, “Canelo Alvarez isn’t effective and he gets tired when he’s boxing going backward.” The reason behind his conclusion? The fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dmitry Bivol.
In both fights, Canelo struggled to remain active toward the end as a result of fighting backward. Still, a point of contention remains. How will a smaller Terence Crawford manage to keep Canelo Alvarez on the back? Floyd Mayweather had the answer. According to ShowBizz The Adult, Crawford can exploit this particular weakness by using a smart game plan, particularly with his body jab.

Drawing inspiration from Money’s victory, ShowBizz noted, “Floyd did it with one punch. Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford can be strong enough and smart enough to do the same with good footwork and a stab jab(body jab) him right at the belt line.” He explained that the key move is a strong body jab to the beltline, a technique that can stop Canelo Alvarez from moving forward with his high guard. “What Floyd did was he Floyd parried it with a straight-up top. A stab jab to the waistline! I am telling you!” exclaimed the commentator.
So now that was a far cry from his previous stance, where ShowBizz had expressed different opinions and doubts about Terence Crawford’s ability to win, especially considering the weight and size difference with Canelo. And just to recap, here is what he said.
ShowBizz’s Initial Doubts: Terence Crawford too small for Canelo Alvarez
On his YouTube channel, he was critical of the comparisons being drawn between Bud Crawford and Floyd Mayweather, especially when it came to a potential Canelo Alvarez fight. ShowBizz argued, “Crawford is like Floyd Mayweather? I don’t agree. If you look at the punches Crawford gets hit with, if you look at his fight with Madrimov, just his last fight, most recent fight, the punches he got hit with Floyd Mayweather doesn’t get hit.”
He pointed out that Crawford tends to get hit more often than Mayweather ever did. An example was Crawford’s August 2024 WBA Super Welterweight title fight at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles against Israil Madrimov, where Crawford absorbed several clean punches throughout the bout.

In contrast, ShowBizz highlighted the stark difference between how Mayweather handled Canelo in their September 2013 encounter. In that fight, if you remember, Money’s experience was too much for the 23-year-old Canelo Alvarez. It was an easy win for the undefeated champion despite the draw score by one judge.

Not just that. “Floyd Mayweather versus Canelo in comparison to Terence Crawford vs. Canelo-keep this in mind that Canelo Alvarez as a Floyd fought at a catchweight, alright. In this situation, Terence Crawford will be moving up three weight classes to Canelo’s world. That’s a huge distinction. It’s two weight classes now,” he contended. However, with his latest change of heart, ShowBizz now seems to believe that Crawford has a viable path to victory, as long as he can implement the right strategy.
As the Canelo-Crawford fight draws nearer, boxing fans are left to wonder: can Terence Crawford pull off the upset against Canelo Alvarez? Or will Canelo’s size, power, and experience prove too much for the smaller Crawford? Do share your thoughts with us below!
