The bad blood persists between Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya! On the 4th of May, Canelo Alvarez will return to the ring against Golden Boy Promotion’s undefeated boxer Jaime Munguia inside the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. In this process, Canelo is now having to work with ‘Golden Boy’, the promoter he left in 2020 after a contract breach. Anyway, after the press conference, Canelo told the media that he still did not like the “kind of person” De La Hoya is.
In his reply, De La Hoya later took to social media and ridiculed Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia LA press conference. In doing so, he belittled Alvarez’s professional fights.

At the LA press conference, Oscar De La Hoya, the promoter of Jaime Munguia in this fight, reiterated that he was proud and happy. According to him, with two elite Mexican boxers like Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia in the ring, the fight would be a treat. On that note, De La Hoya even referred to Canelo’s fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in 2017. While Canelo was 48-1-1 at that time, Cesar Chavez Jr. was 50-2-1. Anyway, after 12 rounds, Alvarez won the contest via UD. Alluding to this, De La Hoya said, “It’s been a while since Canelo fought Julio Cesar Chavez. But, this is different.”

“We have Munguia who’s [the] next world champion, who’s undefeated, young, strong, and hungry,” he added. However, after the press conference, De La Hoya took to X and wrote, “Yesterday’s press conference was so boring like Canelo’s fights. Wait till I unleash.” While it is unclear what De La Hoya wishes to unleash, it is safe to say that his latest statement contradicts himself as ‘Golden Boy’ already accepts Alvarez as an “elite” fighter whose performances are a treat for the fans.
Meanwhile, speaking of his tame LA press conference, Alvarez said he respected Munguia.
