Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has hit back at Shelly Finkel. The famous promoter has responded to Deontay Wilder’s promoter and his comments in the most Bob Arum way possible.

Talking to iFL TV on YouTube, Arum rubbished all claims made by Finkel regarding the trilogy between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. He even went as far as saying that Shelly Finkel has not read the contract.

This came after Fury’s camp confirmed that they have moved on from the Wilder fight. The Englishman’s team understands that the rematch clause in the second fight has expired.

Since then, there have been reports that Fury’s next fight will be on December 5 against Carlos Takam. However, Finkel is adamant that Wilder will be the one to fight Fury in December.

Replying to the question on Finkel’s comments, Bob Arum said, “It’s absolutely not true. I have no idea what he is talking about.”  These words not only shut down Finkel’s comments but also confirmed that they are not even considering that fight anymore.

Has Deontay Wilder’s rematch clause with Tyson Fury expired?

In the video, Arum said, “Fury has Robert Davis as his lawyer in the UK. He’s read the contract. The contract has expired. It’s clear. Shelly can say what he wants.”

Arum gave a little more insight into the situation. He claimed they have not been in contact since the last fight. He said:

“You know the thing that’s crazy about it is, the last time I talked to Shelly Finkel, was the night of the fight after Wilder had been beat. And I haven’t talked to him since.” Then, in typical Bob Arum style, he took a dig at Finkel.

“Shelly hides in the bushes and then when something that he sees as being averse to his fighter or himself, happens, then he comes out and makes statements, I am sure, I am absolutely sure, not knowing, but I think Shelly Finkel has never read the contract.”

When you have a promoter saying things like this one month before a big fight, it is more likely that the fight will not happen.

The fact that Finkel only spoke up after the reports of Fury’s next opponent came up, makes things a little more suspicious. Either way, the trilogy fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder looks increasingly unlikely as of now.
