The Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight is one of the most hyped and iconic heavyweight contests in the pipeline. The fight between these two was all set to take place on August 14 this year. However, the ex-champ, Deontay Wilder came in and secured his WBC heavyweight trilogy fight. As he won his arbitrary case, he will battle ‘The Gypsy King’ on October 9.

With this, the Fury vs Joshua bout was pushed to the sidelines. However, ‘The Gypsy King’s US promoter, Bob Arum, has given a piece of positive news on this matchup.

In an interaction with Sky Sports, he said, “My hope is the fight goes to the UK. I don’t care what the money is. Both fighters owe UK fans this tremendous event at Wembley/Cardiff, rather than a foreign country… Easy fight to make. It is not a hard fight to make.” (h/t Michael Benson)

Joshua and Fury beat countless opponents in contention to establish themselves as the top-tier heavyweights. Moreover, the British pair were eager to battle each other out and eventually settle the debate on the best heavyweight on the planet.

But looking at the current mess in the heavyweight title frame, both ‘AJ’ and Fury might not get their hands on each other in 2021. Instead, they’ll have to prove their worth once again to be in contention for the undisputed title.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua – Will it happen in 2022?

Anthony Joshua will fight Oleksandr Usyk on September 25th; Tyson Fury will fight Deontay Wilder on October 9. That said, both of them will first have to get past their rivals in their upcoming encounters.

Considering the fact that they will have to heal, recover, rest and enter training camp again, the earliest potential date for them to fight each other may be in 2022.
