Billy Joe Saunders failed to survive Canelo Alvarez when the two locked horns for the WBC, WBA, and WBO super middleweight titles in May. After suffering a major orbital injury, Saunders retired in his corner in round eight and suffered the maiden loss of his professional career.

In a chat with talkSport, Saunders shared views on several scenes, including Plant vs Alvarez, for all four super-middleweight titles.

Saunders, a tricky southpaw, could crack Canelo Alvarez in the initial stage of the fight. He outboxed Alvarez and looked dominant for a brief period. However, Alvarez turned the tables and schooled Saunders until round 8.

In what turned out to be the final round, he planted a massive shot to crack the Briton’s facial bone. As a result, it’s tough to imagine what Caleb Plant can offer from his side to dismantle the P4P King.
