After getting hold of the WBC and WBA titles against Callum Smith on December 19, four-division champion, Canelo Alvarez, has set his sights on unifying the super middleweight division. He will defend the belts against Avni Yildirim on February 27, followed by a clash with WBO champion, Billy Joe Saunders, in May.

However, ‘Superb’ Saunders has already begun the verbal feud from his side. He recently accused Alvarez and his team of fighting greats after they have passed their prime. Moreover, Saunders also appeared confident about beating Alvarez when they collide inside the ring.

In an interaction with Mike Coppinger, Saunders reflected opinion on fighting Alvarez and passed some scratchy remarks.

“He (Canelo Alvarez) has boxed all of the greats and he has beat all of the greats, at the end of their careers. His team’s very good at picking people at the end of their careers. They’re very, very good at picking people, just on the downward spiral. Maybe I look like to them, they may have seen my fights against Murray, against, I don’t know. The one before that and think, ‘you know what’. He is on a down spiral’. No, No, No my friend,” said Billy Joe Saunders.

Meanwhile, the unbeaten WBO champion revealed that he would undergo a strict training camp to prepare for Alvarez.

He said, “My life for next three months is absolutely hell. I am putting myself through hell and back and I am prepared to live in hell every single day to win.”
