Even after retirement, with a net worth of $450 million, Floyd Mayweather is the richest athlete in the boxing world. Some tough decisions and a few good investments have helped ‘Money Mayweather’ maintain the lavish lifestyle he happily boasts of. Including real estate and a few other businesses, his investment portfolio alone is over $100 million. His career earnings touch a whopping $1.1 billion as well. The boxer believes in building generational wealth and is doing so by collecting dues from exhibition fights.

However, it turns out Mayweather could have achieved even greater wealth. If he revisited these two opponents from his past, he could have added another $500 million to his already heavy wallet. Which two money fights did Mayweather miss out on?

Saudi Arabian investors were rumored to have shown interest in a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather rematch, which was confirmed by the latter in a social media post. However, this did not pan out and the negotiations for the rematch soon failed. In an interview with the Daily Mail some time ago, ‘Money May’ had indicated the possibility of another fight with Conor McGregor. About the bout, Mayweather had said, “I want to go out there this weekend and have fun [against Mikuru Asakura]. Then I have another exhibition in Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023.”

The boxer values longevity and is not willing to risk any severe injuries, which he claimed was another reason he did not mind fighting McGregor again. He was not sure if he wanted a real fight or just another exhibition fight. Neither has taken this forward or signaled a possibility for a future rematch.
