The windfall from the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney fight continues to affect the parties involved. The pair have now announced their next fights and a win would mean they will meet in the ring later this year for a rematch. Meanwhile, Bill Haney and Oscar De La Hoya have started an online feud, launching vicious attacks at each other.
Ryan Garcia is slated to square off against Rolando Romero on May 2nd after his suspension ends in April this year. The fight is expected to unfold at New York’s Times Square, which will also feature Devin Haney returning to the ring against former world champion José Ramírez. Regardless, Oscar seems to think Haney’s upcoming fight is useless, and the former WBC super lightweight champion’s career is all but ruined.
He spoke about it in his popular Clapback Thursdays segment, stating, “I feel sorry for Devin Haney because you hardly ever hear him speak because his dad does all the talking.” Oscar De La Hoya addressed Devin Haney’s loss to Ryan Garcia, which was overturned to a no-contest, claiming it didn’t have to be as bad if Haney had fought again instead of staying inactive.

“If it wasn’t for his father and manager, Bill, who single-handedly turned it into a more toxic situation than Chornobyl,” he added. “I have never seen a big f*** up for a boxer’s career in my life. All Devin had to do after losing to Ryan Garcia last April was say, ‘He beat me. I couldn’t block his left hook,’ and then get back in the gym.”

Branding the Haneys “the biggest crybabies,” Oscar De La Hoya claimed Bill and Devin had to beg Saudi Boxing Chief Turki Alalshikh for the Ramirez fight, adding that Haney has no value left. “The only value Devin has in this sport is to fight Ryan Garcia again. So, Bill, being the pimp that he is, hoed his son out again to the fighter that beat his a** so badly he had to sue him for battery.”
De La Hoya pointed out that the rematch, planned for October this year, will happen only under one condition: “The Haneys must drop their bulls**** lawsuit against Ryan Garcia and Golden Boy,” he said. Oscar De La Hoya continued his insults and attacks in the video, and now Bill Haney has responded to these insults by making things worse for Oscar.
Bill Haney sending Oscar De La Hoya a message ahead of Devin Haney’s return to the ring: “Jose Ramirez is getting beat up and ain’t nothing you can do about it Oscar. We running through Golden Boy and anybody else that Turki Alalshikh put on the table.”

Devin Haney says he has unfinished business with Ryan Garcia
Devin Haney’s name has been dragged through the mud in the last year even though the substance was found in Garcia’s system. A win in the rematch is the only thing that will redeem him and his claim of being the best in the business. While appearing in a recent interview, Haney clarified his thoughts on a rematch.

“I mean it feels great because, at the end of the day, that’s a priority for me,” Haney said when asked about His Excellency making it his priority to make the rematch. “There’s a lot of unfinished business in that fight, that’s a fight that I think has to happen sooner or later.” However, first Haney will have to defeat Ramirez on May 2nd.
